New Walk Museum & Art Gallery

New Walk Museum & Art Gallery, Leicester's original museum, has wide ranging collections and displays spanning the natural and cultural world

A family friendly day out, the galleries include Ancient Egypt, Dinosaurs, Wild Space, The Den gallery for the under 5s, the Victorian art gallery, Arts & Crafts gallery, Picasso Ceramics: The Attenborough Collection and modern and contemporary art displays. The first floor galleries include World Arts and Leicester's internationally renowned collection of German Expressionism.

The museum welcomes a vast array of temporary exhibitions, featuring works from the collections, touring exhibitions from national museums and a programme of contemporary art and craft displays.

The museum hosts a range of events from curators' talks to lunchtime concerts. Tours of the museum are also available for groups – please contact the museum for further details. Visit the gift shop to buy a range of exhibition merchandise and contemporary crafts, or pop by the the Costa coffee shop to recharge with free wifi.

The building is also licensed for weddings, civil ceremonies, renewal of wedding vows, naming ceremonies and private hire.

Due to unforeseen circumstances the Arts and Crafts Gallery will be closed tomorrow, Friday 7th December.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

New Walk Museum car park will be closed from Wednesday 14th November until further notice, due to essential works. For any urgent requests, a limited number of bays will be available to book by calling the museum on 0116 2254900. Priority will be given to blue badge holders.
