About

Belgrave Hall

Belgrave Hall is a historic house, providing an oasis of peace and quiet in a busy city - REOPENING WEDNESDAY 19th AUGUST 2020

The hall was built in the early 18th century in what was then a small village three miles from the town of Leicester. Now city traffic passes, almost unnoticed, just beyond the garden walls.

Edmund Cradock, a hosiery merchant, built Belgrave Hall but died soon after its completion. The Hall has had several owners over the years, including John Ellis – a wealthy businessman who was responsible for bringing the railways to Leicester.

Visitors can explore Belgrave Hall and the beautiful surrounding gardens on special event days. From April to September the gardens are open every Wednesday and the first full weekend of the month, with additional special events open to the public. Visit the website for more details on specific open days.

Guided tours can be arranged for those who want to discover more about the history of the Hall. The stable block, gardens and marquee are available to book for weddings, receptions, meetings and events for businesses and community groups.

Belgrave Hall is COVID Secure and is following current government guidance with procedures in place to protect your safety. Supplying Track & Trace details and the wearing of face masks inside Leicester Museums & Galleries is mandatory. Please visit the COVID FAQ page before your visit so you are prepared and can enjoy your visit to our museums and galleries.

As a Covid-19 secure building and gardens, there are a limited amount of people who can be inside the grounds. There may be a wait to gain entrance during these temporary measures.
