Founded on April 26th 1967, the Leicester Riders are the oldest British Basketball club. We were founder members of the National Basketball League in 1972 and the British Basketball League in 1987.
Currently we are enjoying success as one of the leading basketball clubs in the British Basketball League, having won 4 BBL Championships, 5 BBL Playoffs, 3 BBL Trophies and 3 BBL Cups over the years.
We aim to continue our programmes’ development within the community, in our youth through our academy and strengthening of the team. We have a thriving girls programme with the senior women’s side competing in the WBBL.
The Riders last season became the first British Club since 2007 to play in European competition after initially entering the Basketball Champions League Qualifiers last season before playing in the Group Stage of the FIBA Europe Cup which was a great learning experience for the club on and off the court.
