Historic Leicester

Released in July, this first video highlights the history and heritage of our city. From the 'you couldn't make it up' story of King Richard III's discovery and reinternment through to how the story of the city is built into our buildings, take a journey through Leicester's 2000 years of history.

Market Towns

In September we put the focus on our beautiful market towns. We're really spoilt in Leicestershire with beautiful and historic towns all across our county, from the flower-festooned Market Bosworth to the shopper's paradise of Market Harborough, not to mention the regional capital of food Melton Mowbray. Then there's Loughborough, who are currently celebrating the 800 year anniversary of the Royal Charter which allows them to host a weekly market.

The National Forest

We are extremely lucky in Leicestershire to have the National Forest on our doorstep. More than nine million trees have been planted in the region since 1990, transforming an industrial landscape into the UK's first new forest to be created in a millenium. Explore on foot, on bike, and uncover some of the remnants of the region's industrial heritage, not to mention some incredible historic sites.

City Experience

We are a city still making history, and modern Leicester is doing it on every level. From the FA Cup holders Leicester City to a cultural tradition which covers incredible street art through to a tradition of theatre that goes back to a young Richard Attenborough treading the boards of our city's venues. And whether it's shopping, the space centre, or exploring the Golden Mile, there is so much to do in the city, that you'll definitely want to stay. Check out the video now!

A Taste of Leicester & Leicestershire

The remarkable King Richard III discovery may be Leicester's best-known story, but the city and county have many other best-kept secrets to share with visitors. Find out why we are known as Space City, discover a wealth of intriguing royal connections, explore a forest of 9 million trees and see why our market towns paint a portrait of England all for you to see in our video showcasing the best of Leicester & Leicestershire.
