We’ve already run down some of the best of Leicester and Leicestershire Christmas events, but there’s always things that we’ve missed, so we’ve put together this extra special list of some more fantastic festive activites
A Christmas Alpacaganza
Experience a Christmas Alpaca adventure at Charnwood Forest Alpacas. The visit begins with an explanation of why alpacas are so special by Santa’s helper, next you will be shown how to befriend, lead and walk your alpaca chum. You can also take Christmas Afternoon Tea or have your own Christmas party. Visit their website to find out more
Inclusive Grotto
A perfect Santa experience in a fully inclusive space where those who have special requirements can feel comfortable and enjoy the magic of meeting Santa. You can expect plenty of time with Santa, the Northern Lights with falling snowflakes, a present from Santa, and customised lighting and sound for each child's needs. There is no charge for entry, no queues, siblings are welcome and you can take all the photos you want to! Book your visit here.
Leicester Museums get Festive
Leicester’s museums have loads of events this Christmas. Get crafty at a Christmas wreath making workshop in the festive surroundings of the Guildhall on Saturday 10 December. Get a warm welcome at Belgrave Hall’s traditional Christmas on Sunday 11 December which includes a magic lantern show, displays of mechanical and clockwork toys, wassailing and a chance to make your own decorations.
Kids can make their own Christmas decorations inspired by the arts and craft gallery at a drop-in session at Leicester Museum and Art Gallery on Saturday 17 December, and Tell Tale Theatre present a Santa experience for all the family at the Guildhall on Tuesday 13 and Wednesday 14 December. There’s loads more going on, check out the Museums What’s On page.
Santa Paws is coming to town
If you want to treat your furry friend (and get the cutest festive piccies) then bring your pup to meet Santa at Bitsy’s Emporium! They'll also receive a prezzie and a puppaccino for being the bestest boy or girl. There might be a small queue, but book your place, and chill at the Mill with Bitsy’s epic cakes and Festive Grilled Cheese! There’s also a chance for the kids to meet Santa.
Festive Yarn Bomb
Cosby’s Yarn Bomb was one of the highlights of the summer and they’ve outdone themselves yet again with a Festive Yarn Bomb! Taking over the Nook at the centre of the village it’ll be there until 4 January, so make sure you check it out, then grab a festive meal at the historic Tithe Barn.
Competition time!
We’re running a special competition for the chance to win a Leicester Tigers half season ticket for the whole family! Usually costing a minimum of £170 and including 10 home games (7 for the men’s team and 3 for the women’s), support the Premiership Champions as they try to reach the playoffs in 2023 and the women’s team who are currently top of the Women's Championship North 1.
