James' Café Bistro

Frequently referred to as a hidden gem, James' is a family-run business located just a few steps from the Clock Tower.

Tucked away at the back entrance of the Highcross, this little oasis of calm is famed for its comprehensive breakfast menu, including vegan and gluten-free options. Home to a quirky vintage interior that fits in well with their family-friendly environment, there is disabled access throughout, a wide selection of toys and games for the little ones and baby changing facilities are available.

James’ serve up fresh, well thought out, locally-sourced food. Everything is made to order and so everything can be adapted to suit particular dietary requirements. Look out for their regularly changing specials menu, which makes the most of the best quality seasonal produce.

Vinyl nights take place every Saturday evening and various live music acts are hosted throughout the year, including Reggae, Motown and Jazz artists. Also look out for their Psychic suppers which are held every two months.

They love hosting parties, and can often offer a free venue for small events and gatherings. Not usually open on Sundays, they will always make an exception for a good party!
