Giggling Squid is all about the spirit of Thai mealtimes with bold flavours, exotic ingredients and an abundance of dishes to share with friends and family. There is something for every taste from sizzling stir fries and luscious curries, to spicy Thai salads and fresh seafood, cooked by experts and delivered with Thai generosity.
The menu is a labour of love, taking inspiration from Thai traditions and legends, as well as Thai-born Giggling Squid founder Pranee Laurillard’s own food memories. Giggling Squid prides itself on sourcing exceptional and unusual ingredients such as the rare, wild-growing Mah Kwan pepper, found only in Northern Thailand which flavours its Mah Kwan Pepper Pork Belly. For a lighter bite at lunch there is a wide range of Thai tapas and tapas sets such as One Giggling Squid featuring Sleeping Honey Duck, Wholesome Cashew Stir Fry, Thai Spring Rolls and Jasmine Rice. Vegan and kids’ menus are also available.
Giggling Squid believes your dining experience should be as much a feast for the eyes as for the taste buds and its unique, bright and bold floral interiors with their nod to ingredients from the sea and land, boast Pranee’s personal touch with pressed flowers and hand-painted murals.
The Giggling Squid story started when co-founder Pranee worked as a waitress at a family run Thai restaurant whilst studying in Brighton. She loved the fast pace, getting to know customers by name and the skill of turning tables but she missed the true Thai mealtime experience and this sparked a hunger to have her own restaurant in her own style. Fast forward a few years, and Pranee and husband Andy were sitting in the basement of a tiny, tiny fisherman’s cottage (now their Brighton restaurant), pulling together Giggling Squid’s first Thai Tapas menu
