About

The National Forest Walking Festival

The National Forest Walking Festival has been running for 15 years and offers a wide range of guided and self-guided walks around the beautiful Leicestershire countryside.

This year there are a record 94 walks to choose from, and the Festival celebrates the rich and varied heritage of the National Forest. You can take a walk back through time and learn about the rocks beneath our feet, hear stories of stately homes and the families who lived there, and find out how our industrial past shaped the Forest.

The festival aims to inspires you to go and explore the Forest in your own time. If you want a challenge, then why not join the virtual National Forest Trek? Set up to mark ten years since the creation of their 75-mile long distance trail, you can walk it in your own time, at your own pace and support the National Forest in doing so.
