Shopping

Leicester and Leicestershire boast a wide range of shopping experiences from boutique independent shops in historic market towns to the big brands in Leicester’s Highcross, one of the country’s most popular shopping destinations.

The area also hosts the UK’s premier out-of-town shopping destination at Fosse Park, recently redeveloped and extended to include a new dining space “Food Central”, alongside a flagship three storey Next store and Flannels.

Highcross Leicester is home to over 80 of the most imaginative and desirable shops including John Lewis & Partners, Zara and Apple right in the heart of Leicester. Step outside the cool, brightly lit malls directly into The Lanes, where narrow winding streets and Victorian arcades are full of distinctive independent stores and coffee shops. Find boutique homeware, vintage clothing, chocolate makers or fabulous high-end jewellery.  Don’t miss Leicester market, now 800 years old and the perfect place to pick up reasonably priced local produce.

For a more traditional shopping experience, head over to one of Leicestershire’s historic market towns. Loughborough, Ashby de la Zouch, Melton Mowbray or Market Harborough all have a vibrant mix of unique independent shops and boutiques as well as popular street and farmers markets that have been established for centuries.

Unique rural retail experiences can be found at Wistow Rural Centre, The Engine Yard at Belvoir Castle and Staunton Harold’s Ferrers Centre.
