Rocket Round Space Race

Space Race 100k Challenge

Space Race 100k Challenge

Did you know that there is just 100km between Earth and Space? If you go straight up that is!

Join the Space Race this summer alongside other budding astronauts and take on your very own 100km challenge with the aim of walking, cycling or running all the way to outer-space.

Whether you want to walk 100km over the entire summer, run it over the course of week or cycle it in a day – the choice is yours. You can even roller-skate or skateboard the astronomical distance too!

Registering for the Space Race is completely free; all you have to do is accept the mission of raising £40 for LOROS Hospice, get outdoors and start racking up those kilometres to make it to space!

There's no better way to explore the stellar Rocket Round Leicester sculptures which weave an incredible art trail through the streets of Leicester between 19 July and 26 September.

The spectacular fleet of 40 giant Rocket sculptures will form the city's biggest ever public art event in aid of LOROS Hospice this summer. You can be part of the action by getting sponsored and pledging to raise just £1 for every Rocket sculpture on the trail.

Space cadets reaching for the stars and raising £40 or more for LOROS will be rewarded with a Space Race 100km medal to celebrate their achievement. Get your hands on one when the challenge comes to an end in early October.

The money that you raise will make world of difference to LOROS Hospice, helping to care for over 2,500 terminally ill patients and their families across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland each year.

How will you get to space?

Stuck for ideas on how you'll complete the mission? Check out our suggestions below to get you started!

- For a challenge lasting the entire summer, why not aim to walk 100km between now and the end of the trail. Do it alone or in your bubble!
- Budding cyclists out there, how does 100km in a day sound for a one-off challenge? Or you could push yourself one step further and cycle 100km every week until the end of the trail.
- You could even sprint to space: could you hit 100km over summer? What about over a week, or a month – or even 100km each month until September!
- Want to do something a bit different? You could whizz your way to 100km by roller-skating or skateboarding the distance.
- Do it completely your way, even kayak, swim or sail your way to space!
Rise to the challenge and register by setting yourself up a Fundraising page today here. You can also track your progress and see how your fellow Space Cadets are getting on with their race to space too!
