About

Sally Barker & Anna Ryder

Sally Barker, local singer/songwriter and Tom Jones' 2014 The Voice finalist, returns to the Guildhall with multi-instrumentalist and composer Anna Ryder.

Sally and Anna were first introduced at Fairport Convention's Cropredy Festival by bass player Dave Pegg. Veterans of the UK Folk and Acoustic Scene, both have worked with Fairport, with Anna writing songs for them and also working with Eddi Reader and Julianne Regan (All About Eve). Sally has toured as a member of revered fem-folkers The Poozies, in the re-formed Fotheringhay and as a solo artist supporting Tom Jones, Robert Plant, Richard Thompson and Bob Dylan.

The girls work together in The Sandy Denny Project and the trio IOTA but decided to also record and tour as a duo. Their performance at the Guildhall will feature songs from their debut album 'When I Wake Up' on which they explore themes of love, nature, gannets on Alderney, football, sea nymphs, St Luke and imagery from fact and fiction.
