Our annual Made at Curve and De Montfort University co-production returns to the stage next year with this new version of Joan Littlewood's pioneering satirical masterpiece, Oh! What a Lovely War.
Inspired by Charles Chilton's radio play The Long Long Trail, the musical was first performed at the Theatre Royal Stratford East in 1963. Now, an ensemble cast from the university's Drama BA (Hons) course will follow in the footsteps of the original Theatre Workshop company, examining the true costs of the Great War through the lens of a seaside music hall revue.
Featuring wartime classics It's A Long Way to Tipperary and Good-bye-ee, Oh! What a Lovely War is hilarious and harrowing in equal measure. Pack up your troubles in your old kit-bag and join us in paying tribute to the scores of soldiers who fought for our nation.
