Musical Notes from Across the Pond

Musical Notes from Across the Pond

About

Musical Notes from Across the Pond

For our final concert of the season we are delighted to welcome back Mezzo-Soprano Catherine Griffiths, who has appeared as a regular visiting soloist with Chorale over the past few years.

We present a programme of music from American and British Twentieth Century Greats, including Aaron Copland's distinctive take on the Creation story of the book of Genesis, Michael Tippett's striking Spirituals from A Child of our Time and the hauntingly beautiful Hymn to St Cecilia of Benjamin Britten, revised aboard MS Axel Johnson, as the composer and his partner Peter Pears returned home from emigrating to the States during World War II.
