Leicester Blues, Rhythm & Rock Festival

Leicester Blues, Rhythm & Rock Festival

For the second year running.......Leicester is back on the music map for the East Midlands!

Solid Entertainments is delighted to announce that Leicester Blues, Rhythm & Rock Festival will be returning to Leicester Morningside Arena.

Having set the standard at last years festival, our challenge this year was to deliver an equally if not more impressive line-up.  We think we have achieved this and with The Blockheads headlining and seven other very different, but striking acts in the line-up, this will undoubtedly be another great festival and one live music event not to miss in the region!

Starting out as the band behind Ian Dury, the Blockheads are a legendary outfit that has grown in stature from the early days of the Stiff tour in 1977, right up to the present day.  Backing up Ian Dury’s poetic lyrics, this is the band that brought you ‘Hit Me with your Rhythm Stick’, ‘What A Waste’, ‘Reasons to be Cheerful (Part 3)’, and ‘Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll’, among many others.

Rarely off the road since the demise of Ian Dury in 2000, but now with Derek Hussey fronting the band, the Blockheads are still one of the most underrated British bands of all time, with a legion of fans of all ages.  The Blockheads are fronted by Derek ‘The Draw’ Hussey, and Chaz Jankel, Norman Watt-Roy, John Turnbull and Mick Gallagher still remain from the original band.  The current line-up is augmented by John Roberts on drums and a rolling line up of saxophonists that includes Gilad Atzmon, Terry Edwards and Dave Lewis.

Have a walk down memory lane and see Ian Dury and The Blockheads play “What A Waste” on youtube, and four decades later, check out The Blockheads doing a selection of songs live on youtube.

This year's full line-up comprises of:

The Blockheads – need anything else be said!

Chantel McGregor – her music not only salutes contemporary rock, but shows a gradual transition from conventional Blues to a harder, bigger and bolder rock sound with progressive influences!

Stevie Nimmo Trio – as one half of Scotland’s highly respected ‘Nimmo Brothers’, Stevie Nimmo has been a well known and respected figure throughout the blues and roots world for over 2 decades!

Zal Cleminson's sin'dogs – Zal is widely respected for his work with The Sensational Alex Harvey Band and has gone on record to say that he is only now playing the best music he's ever written and performed!

Dani Wilde - with five successful studio albums under her belt delving deep into her blues and Americana influences, she has earned her reputation as a world-class singer and songwriter!

Southbound – bringing an exclusive take on British Blues, audiences are enthralled by the unique sounds and grooves that the band create on stage which has helped to propel their career forward!

Connor Selby Band - inspired by music in the 60’s citing Eric Clapton as his first and current major influence, putting particular emphasis on his output with John Mayall and The Bluesbreakers and Cream!

Vincent Flatt’s Final Drive – Vincent Flatt’s is a southern infused blues 'n' boogie band, with a set that takes audiences from swampy delta blues, to fast and exciting boogie rock 'n' roll!

In close proximity to the city centre, easily accessible by public transport and on-site complimentary car parking, Leicester Morningside Arena provides the largest and most flexible space in the city.  With first class catering facilities, no need to worry about searching for food and drinks on the day either, there will be a range of alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages, real ales available and a varied menu that should meet everyone's taste!

Early Bird tickets are only £28 and can be booked online.
