About

In Memoriam: Leicester's War Memorials at Risk

During the two World Wars, the bodies of those who died were not repatriated but buried in Commonwealth War Grave Commission cemeteries in the many lands where they fell.

Thus, war memorials in towns and villages throughout the land played a significant role in the focus of loss and grief and as a means of honouring the sacrifice of those who died.

This exhibition shows memorials taken into care by Leicester City, County & Rutland At Risk War Memorials Project, each telling an extraordinary history.
