GCR Platinum Jubilee Celebration

About

GCR Platinum Jubilee Celebration

Celebrate with the Great Central throughout the weekend, with themed stations along the line, special events, flypasts and much more!

Loughborough is taking on a 1960s theme with live music, festival bar and photo exhibition. Quorn & Woodhouse was home to the 82nd Airborne Army Regiment during WWII so there’s a 1940s theme, with live tribute acts, music hall performances, a shopping village, plus Vintage Vehicle and military displays with re-enactments throughout. On the Saturday there will also be a free heritage bus to Quorn Village for their Jubilee celebrations.

Rothley goes back to the early 1900s and features a Vintage Funfair with 1920s Pricing - Shilling a Ride (5p), a Steam Powered Carousel, live music and burlesque plus Vintage Vehicle displays. Leicester North station recreates the silver Jubilee days of the 1970s and features live music from Andy Orlando the singing policeman.
