Coming Home: The Richard III Portrait from the National Portrait Gallery

One of the most popular pictures in the National Portrait Gallery Collection, the iconic portrait of Richard III is coming to Leicester as part of the national COMING HOME project.

The work is one of 50 portraits of iconic individuals being lent to places across the UK with which they are most closely associated. Working in partnership with the King Richard III Visitor Centre and Leicester Cathedral, the exhibition will explore the story of King Richard III and his famous rediscovery in a Leicester carpark.

COMING HOME has been made possible by support from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, generous contributions from The Thompson Family Charitable Trust and funds raised at the Gallery’s Portrait Gala in 2017.
