The dark winter skies over New Market Square will be bathed in light this Christmas, as BID Leicester presents LightWeight.
Imagine a giant inflatable sphere, four metres across, glowing with intense colours and imagery, and suddenly you see the faces of you and your friends appear in the quirky animations. Welcome to the world of LightWeight.
This unique and interactive installation will be located alongside Santa in the Square this Christmas. The specially commissioned twilight show will enchant people of all ages. Watch as video and animation effects spin magically around the entire surface of the globe. You can even see your very own animated portrait dancing across the structure – just strike a pose in the face-recognition camera booth. Will your image be in a flock of mischievous angels flapping around the sphere, or the face of another quirky animated character? Come along and see for yourself!
Santa in the Square will provide a stunning festive backdrop, with Santa's grotto surrounded by snowy trees and decorations making the square a festive retreat in the heart of the city.
