• Uncover the story - What do a factory in Hinckley and one of the most iconic moments in Hollywood movie history have in common? The answer is a splendidly restored Triumph TR6 Trophy motorbike. On the silver screen, this is the machine that takes Steve McQueen’s character in The Great Escape on a thrilling chase culminating in a daring jump. In Leicestershire, it’s one of the incredible items displayed at the Triumph Factory Visitor Experience.
The Triumph name has been synonymous with motorcycle design, racing and popular culture since 1902, and its legendary status was cemented right from the start. The military chose Triumph machines to see active service in both world wars, the brand held the motorcycle land speed record for 15 consecutive years, and its movie career kicked off with a role in The Wild One, when a brooding Marlon Brando caused mayhem on a 650cc Thunderbird 6T.
It’s no surprise then that it’s the motorcycle of choice for thousands of bikers each year, including a host of famous names. From homegrown celebrities David Beckham and Ewan McGregor to Hollywood royalty George Clooney and Bradley Cooper, they’re all dedicated to this British icon.
See what all the fuss is about at Triumph’s immersive Visitor Experience, based at the Hinckley factory site. An array of motorcycle memorabilia is on display and visitors can get up close to the iconic bikes they’ve seen in movies from The Great Escape to Jurassic World and Mission Impossible 2.
They can also venture through the factory doors for an unparalleled behind-the-scenes tour to see how the machines are made, right here in Hinckley, from initial concept to final assembly.
Before getting back on the road, a snack at the 1902 Café and shopping in the world’s only official Triumph factory shop also come highly recommended.
