About

Cycling in the heart of the National Forest

Located in the heart of the National Forest, Hicks Lodge is a former coal mining site that has been totally transformed by new plantings and exciting cycle trails for you to enjoy. Trails are graded and traffic free so perfect for families and learners.

A great day out for the budding cyclist, from tearaway toddlers to young teens perfecting their skills, there’s a range of trails for beginner to intermediate appetites.

Bike hire is available at Grounds Cycle Centre including mountain bikes, junior bikes, e-bikes and a range of family cycling accessories.

Visit the lakeside bird hide where you can soak up the beautiful scenery and spot some unique wildlife, such as the migratory sand martins. Take a picnic or re-fuel in the Grounds Café
