A morning of active outdoor exploration

This one is perfect for active families with energy to burn and curiosity about our city.

Start off in Leicester’s historic Lanes with a coffee at one of our fantastic cafés. Piero’s on Loseby Lane is a good value independent café and is open from 7am for those early risers.

Then hop into the car, or on the bus (Skylink or Arriva 126) to the Redhill roundabout and Leicester Outdoor Pursuits Centre where you can take part in a wide range of outdoor activities including abseiling, archery, bushcraft, canoeing, climbing and much more. You can pre-book one or two activities lasting an hour each.

On your way back to the city, why not jump off the bus on Melton Road and explore Leicester’s famous Golden Mile, named for the huge number of jewellers selling amazing designs that wouldn’t look out of place in the high streets of Mumbai? This is the heart of the Asian community in Leicester and you can spend hours exploring the jewellers, sari and sweet shops. Get lost in the food, fashion and spices of this multicultural community and then finish your morning with lunch at one of the amazing Indian restaurants.

Bobby’s is a Leicester institution, and offers the very best vegetarian Indian meals you’re going to find. They also offer a fantastic Indian afternoon tea, so swap your sandwiches for samosas, your jam for Gulab Jambu and your Tetleys for Masala Chai!
