While Bradford is a multiple winner Curry Capital UK, Leicester has long been famed for not only the quality of its curry houses, but also the sheer variety of Indian cuisine on offer.

Leicester isn’t a city where Tikka Masala is the order of the day. From the sweetshops of Melton Road to the Dosas at Bobby’s, the Keralan and Goan seafood on offer at Kayal or Indian high tea with real homestewed Chai, this is a place where you could eat a different dish every day of the year and still leave wanting more.

Leicester was also recently named the city with the most Indian restaurants per head than any other in the UK, and second only in the whole world. The TripAdvisor survey revealed that Leicester’s 240+ curry houses mean there is an average of 0.49 restaurants per 1,000 people. This is hardly surprising as 2021 census data showed that 59,800 Leicester residents reported India as their country of birth, a total of 16% of the population of the city.

The Indian community are rightly proud of the restaurants which now showcase the cuisine of the subcontinent across our great city. And those curry houses are famous as far as the street of Delhi and Mumbai, with people of all backgrounds sitting down for (or taking away) their weekly curry.

Leicester was named the UK curry capital back in 2007, and the man who is aiming to bring this title back to the city we believe deserves it is Romail Gulzar. Romail set up and runs Pukaar, a local media organisation which provides broadcast media for the BBC, Sky News and ITV and has launched the careers of dozens of local young journalists and media professionals.

He is also the man behind the Leicestershire Curry Awards, designed to recognise and reward the city’s finest curry houses. First held in 2016, the awards cover seven categories and highlight the sheer diversity and quality of the city’s curry.

In 2018, Romail also launched the Toronto Curry Awards, celebrating Canadian curries and taking the concept international, along with launching National Samosa Week, which runs every April and aims to encourage people from a whole range of cultural background to try the delicious triangular savoury snacks.

Now in 2023, with seven years of the Leicester Curry Awards under his belt, Romail has again spread his wings across the wider region. The sheer breadth and quality of curry across the county has meant that the Leicester Curry Awards has become the Leicestershire Curry Awards.

The awards take place on 25 September and are sure to be a fantastic event, showcasing the spicy and fragrant tastes of the subcontinent. We’re proud to be a supporter of the curry awards this year, keep your eyes on their feed for the winners in September, and visit their website if you want to book tickets for the event!

Good afternoon. These are quite interesting courses. I have recently completed one, but only in law, and now I have a goal to get a second higher education, so I am applying again. In order not to waste a lot of my valuable time, I immediately relied on the residency personal statement writing service https://residencypersonalstatements.net/ because I know that they are the best in their field.

That all changed when I came across this site, which offers a variety of poker games free of such restrictions. If you love poker too, you should check out <a href="https://non-gamstop.onlinecasinoprofy.com/poker-sites-not-on-gamstop/";>https://non-gamstop.onlinecasinoprofy.com/poker-sites-not-on-gamstop/<;/a> poker sites not on gamstop.
