Leicester Coffee House Company

Leicester Coffee House Company is a coffee shop and roastery based in an historic building in Leicester’s Granby Street. They combine good quality, ethically sourced, locally roasted coffee with supported learning opportunities for young people.

Customers can choose from two single origin coffees or a decaf for their carefully crafted espresso based drinks and all the beans are roasted in house.

They began by roasting beans on a popcorn maker before progressing onto a small home roaster. All their beans are now roasted on a 1kg Probat roaster at our Granby Street coffee house. They took their name from the original Leicester Coffee and Cocoa House Company that began life in 1877. This company combined commercial profit with the benefit of townspeople and it too opened its first coffee shop on Granby Street.

Milk is sourced direct from Vine Farm Dairy who produce unhomogenised milk from their herd of free range cows and deliver it to the shop in refillable glass bottles, adding fresh and sustainable flavour to their milk based drinks. Cakes are baked in house using quality ingredients with gluten free and vegan options available.

The coffee shop itself has been refurbished to create a comfortable relaxed space, with music and vintage furniture adding to the warm and friendly atmosphere.

The idea of a community project running through a coffee business is one that they have been developing for some time. They not only provide fantastic coffee for the people of Leicester and beyond but also ensure that opportunities for young people to flourish are at the heart of what they do.
