The dreary and tedious month of January has come to an end, and boy has it been a long one. We bet you’re ready for a much-required mood boost, so what better timing for the return of the Leicester Comedy Festival. It's back to celebrate the best of British comedy and support new and emerging comedy talent. It’s been called “one of the best comedy festivals in the world” by The Guardian and has always introduced some of the country’s biggest TV names along with the most innovative, fresh and emerging comedy talent to Leicester. This year headline acts include Jo Brand, Stewart Lee, Milton Jones, Shappi Khorsandi, Fascinating Aida, Paul Singha, Josie Long amongst countless others. In the words of Frank Carson, “It’s a cracker”. All the old favourites are back including the UK Pun Championships which has been a total sell out for the last 4 years. It essentially follows the format of a rap battle that takes places in a boxing ring, surrounded by the audience who sit in the round. It links with the mad phenomenon #UKPunDay.

The UK Kids Comedy Festival, the only comedy festival in the UK aimed at children and young people returns for a second year. In 2019 there were over 30 shows, workshops and events which engaged children young people and their families with events taking place at Curve, The Y, De Montfort Hall as well as community centres across Leicester.
