Where would we be without our mums? All year round they work tirelessly to make sure our laundry is washed, meals are cooked or simply act as a shoulder to cry on.  Yet they never ask for anything in return!  It’s probably the toughest job you’ll come across (mums out there will understand completely!) and that’s why it’s important to recognise the commendable efforts mums go to day after day! It’s only a few weeks away and takes place on Sunday 31st March, so to make sure you’re prepared for the big day we thought we’d give you a few ideas to really spoil the special lady in your life.

Polkadot Pottery

If you’re mum is the creative sort then why not take her to the Mother’s Day Cream Tea and Pottery Painting taking place at the oldest building in Leicester – The Guildhall. It’s a chance to experience a proper cream tea and pottery painting in the Mayor’s Parlour. Mum’s can choose from a variety of items to paint including a bud vase, cup & saucer, heart dish, tall vase, plant pot, heart trinket box or decorative butterfly. The package costs just £16 per person so no excuse not to get that booked in!

Queen Victoria & Arts Centre

It’s not every day you get taken out for a three-course meal in exquisite surroundings. These occasions are best kept for special days like Mother’s Day and nothing could be more special then an evening out at The Queen Victoria & Arts Centre. They have just launched their Mothering Sunday menu with a fantastic choice of starters, mains and of course mouth-watering desserts including orange & ricotta cheesecake with forest berry compote, sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce and vanilla ice cream.  Bet that’s got your mouth watering already! Prices are £29 per person for a three-course meal and £24 per person for a two-course meal.

Kilworth House Hotel

Make your Mother’s Day extra special and treat her to the majestic surroundings of Kilworth House Hotel. You can treat her to ‘Flavours of Flowers & Chocolate’ on Friday 29th March with flower infused macaroons, mulberry scones and red velvet chocolate cake. Prices are £25 per adult and £9.95 per child when choosing from the children tea menu, or £25 for full afternoon tea.

Or if you’d rather, why not choose the Champagne Afternoon tea in the Wordsworth restaurant from 2pm until 4pm on Sunday 30th March. The choice is yours!

City Rooms

Spend the afternoon in a gorgeous Georgian building situated in the heart of the city. The City Rooms make for a stunning venue to celebrate Mother’s Day. The venue is steeped in history with magnificent windows and grand chandeliers making the perfect backdrop for a perfect Mothering Sunday.

Wygstons House
