Christmas highlights from the county

The spirit of Christmas is spreading across the county, and there are loads of special seasonal events to attend across Leicestershire this year.

If you’re looking to keep the kids entertained bring them along to Twin Lakes Park on 2 December where there will be a special drive in viewing of the Polar express. After enjoying a nice day out on the rides what better way to relax then to drive in and a watch a Christmas classic.

Be dazzled as St Mary’s Church hosts a Christmas tree festival. Set in Melton Mowbray, not only can you admire the recently renovated church, you can also see the trees illuminated in a special switch-on event taking place from 1-5 December.

After Christmas

We get it – you’re bloated from overindulging and all you want to do is hibernate at home you’re your pyjamas on. We’ve all been there! But why not get a head start on those New Year’s resolutions and burn off some of those Christmas calories whilst having fun? That’s right, it is possible! Flip Out – an indoor trampoline centre - provides the perfect blend of fitness and fun. You can jump around for a while or, if you have an extra spring in your step, try out the ninja course and stunt boxes.

If you’re more of a motor head then you can join in a Leicestershire tradition and go to the Plum pudding races. This year will be the 43rd annual meet of the race at Mallory Park Racing Circuit on 26 December which sees competitors on two, three and four wheel work off the Christmas turkey in a unique way!

All that not enough? Have a look at our ‘what’s on’ calendar for more suggestions and inspiration.
