Ghost Hunts at Belgrave Hall, Leicester

Welcome to Belgrave Hall – One of Leicester’s Most Historic & Renowned Haunted Landmarks!

Located on the northern edge of Leicester, Belgrave Hall is a Grade II listed building constructed in 1709 as a family home to Edmund and Ann Cradock. Tragically, Edmund and Ann died just two years later. The property later passed through several families, including the family of John Ellis, who famously brought the railway to Leicester. It was sold to Leicester City Council in 1936 and reopened as a museum.

After this time, paranormal activity in Belgrave Hall started to increase. In 1998 Belgrave Hall was the subject of intense media attention after a fascinating piece of evidence was shown on national TV. The evidence was a CCTV clip showing a large white figure standing outside the property before turning, walking off, and climbing over a nearby wall.

Many paranormal reports here are visual, but the activity attacks all the senses, as staff have experienced incredible amounts of strange happenings almost daily. Dark shadow figures are often seen darting around the property, and the disembodied footsteps of children running around on empty floors are also common.

The chilling sighting of a ‘Victorian Lady’, has been reported by staff and visitors alike, and her footsteps are often heard on the stairs. The apparition of a dark male figure has been seen, too, as well as the apparitions of children!

People are often confused when the aroma of ‘old-style cooking’ fills the air in the dead of night when nobody else is in the building. Doors opening and slamming shut and unexplained bangs are just some of the other bizarre happenings experienced here.

Spots will fill up quickly for this one, so hurry and book now!

Belgrave Hall is a Grade II listed building located on the northern edge of Leicester.

It was built between 1709-1713 in a Queen-Anne-Style for the Cradock family, who tragically only lived there for two years before they died.

It was later owned by several wealthy businessmen’s families over the years.

The Simons family, lived there for 45 years, the Vann family for 78 years (during this time, the Vann family also built the nearly Belgrave House), the Ellis family for 76 years (John Ellis was the person that brought the railway to Leicester in 1833), and Thomas Morley for 13 years.

By 1936 the property was purchased by Leicester City Council, and reopened as a museum. It’s currently a heritage site and is only open during the summer months.
