About Us
Holiday homes at the heart of the National Forest…..
Hastings Retreat is situated close to the historic market town of Ashby de la Zouch at the heart of the National Forest. Recently renovated luxury barn conversions individually designed to create a welcoming stay. Our entire site is powered by a 250kw wind turbine, providing all the comforts of home whilst being 100% carbon neutral.
Situated next door to Hicks Lodge Cycle Centre and nestled into a countryside location with beautiful walks and views.

We have a lovely 19th Century 5 bedroomed Farmhouse, with oak beamed ceilings and beautiful views out to the open countryside. Fully furnished and available for longer term rentals at a more competitve rate. Just 5 minutes from Ashby de la Zouch and 5 minutes from Hastings Retreat.

Restaurants
Ashby de la Zouch has an abundance of good quality Restaurants and cafes and is just 5 minutes by car. Our nearest village pub that serves food can be reached on foot and is 1.2 miles away. Right next door, Hicks Lodge Cycle Centre has a wonderful cafe that serves light refreshments and lunches. Many local takeaways offer a deliver service to your door.
Bars & Lounges
Ashby de la Zouch has Cocktail Bars, a Wetherspoons, many pubs and a couple of specialist Ale houses. Live music in the White Hart on Saturday evenings and we even have a couple of small night clubs.
Arts & Culture
Historic Ashby de la Zouch holds it’s own Arts Festival every year. Nearby conkers has live outdoor music concerts throughout the summer months. Ashby Castle is open during the warmer months and we have many local National Trust sites such as Calke Abbey and Staunton Harold that are great days out.
Shows & Entertainment
Birmingham NEC is just 30 minutes drive down the motorway and has larger events throughout the year. The Venture Theatre in Ashby hosts regular entertainment as does DMs in Donisthorpe, Conkers and The Lyric Rooms in Ashby. If you would like to know whats going on during your stay please feel free to ask.
Outdoor & Adventure
Hicks Lodge Cycle Centre is right next door and offers safe cycling and walking for all of the family, including cycle hire. There are plenty of walks right from the door step and a 3 acre fishing lake for the exclusive use of our guests.
Day Trips
Birmingham, Derby and Leicester are all within easy reach for a day out of the area if you would like a days shopping, sight seeing or to attend an event. There are many local attractions a lovely villages close by. Dawn’s place is one of the best we’ve experienced.The place is stylish and modern, and very comfortable.
Lovely, relaxing break in the countryside. Right by the national forest so plenty of walks and bike rides (bike rental close by) straight from the front door. Dips in the lake an added bonus.
